Penny Graves, M.S.

Motivational Speaker

From a deep wellspring of understanding, compassion and desire, Penny Graves has been inspiring others to create the life they love for more than 30 years. As a teenager in Haven, Kansas, she began speaking to youth groups as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Penny became a championship-winning collegiate volleyball and softball coach, leading teams at several universities, including Oberlin College in Ohio, Claremont/Mudd/Scripps Colleges in California and Adams State University in Colorado.

 

Her considerable skills in leadership training, teamwork and team building led to NCAA and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball championship titles for her teams. An outgrowth of her Master’s thesis work was a highly successful coach training workshop in California which grew to include more than 300 coaches in just three years.

Feeling a call to inspire and motivate individuals to live lives free of addiction, Penny served as an addiction counselor at Harmony Foundation in Estes Park, Colo., and later as Wellness Recovery Director at Recovering Spirit in Denver. After losing her bi-polar partner to suicide, Penny began speaking to those in the psychiatric/psychological communities, which ignited a powerful passion in her to help those who suffer from mental illness.

An accomplished public speaker with proven leadership and team-building skills, Penny has an innate ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships with people of diverse ages, cultures, professions and socio-economic levels.

Education

Penny received her B.S. in K-12 Physical Education Psychology from Friends University and her M.S. in Sports Science from Ashland University. She is also a Colorado-certified addiction counselor and a nationally certified wellness coach.

Penny’s journey has led her on a mission to inspire people to create a new life for themselves, regardless of their story or background. Her sense of humor and vibrant embrace of life makes her an engaging and powerful speaker who gives her audiences the tools needed to build lives of joy, peace, fulfillment and abundance.
